Fairmont Olympics Wedding Photo

Anyone who’s ever tried to plan a wedding before knows that things rarely ever go exactly as planned - especially when a pandemic gets thrown into the mix.

Originally, Kristine and Steve had planned a destination wedding at the Fairmont Chateau in scenic Whistler, British Columbia that features a gorgeous rooftop chapel surrounded by a breathtaking view of the mountains. But as fate would have it, COVID-19 had other plans in store for them and they made the decision to transfer their venue deposit to the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, located in downtown Seattle.

The Fairmont Olympic may not feature on-demand views of the famous Whistler Blackcomb ski resort - but make no mistake - the experience is just as magical for those looking to wed in an elegant way. The venue, which was established in 1924, recently underwent a major renovation to combat some of the financial devastation caused by the pandemic, and to restore the Fairmont Olympic’s original Roaring-Twenties charm. (The renovation comes complete with a luxurious, dimly lit speakeasy that’s hidden behind a bookshelf, in case you had any questions about its authenticity.)

In the end, Kristine and Steve may not have had the destination wedding they originally planned for, but they got the opportunity to celebrate their union surrounded by friends and family in one of Seattle’s oldest and finest establishments. What more could you ask for?
